Volunteers Make The Difference

What do our volunteers get out of offering their time...

Gannow Community Centre grows from strength to strength and this is not just down to the great staff at the centre, but a fantastic group of volunteers without whom we couldn't function as efficiently and provide a great welcoming atmosphere which is often commented on by people attending the centre.

Whether it is Amanda, Teri, Helen, Julie and Kelly providing a great service at our drop-in cafe twice a week or Howard and Jake with our Food Share. Then we have Bob and Mick assisting our caretaker in the garden or throughout the building.

It is all team work and volunteers are a great and vital addition to Gannow Community Centre!

What do our volunteers get out of offering their time...

Bob: "It motivates me to be active and helps my well being."

Mick R : "It helps to fill my day as a single parent and the opportunity of meeting people and at the same time keeping my skills up."

Amanda : "Enjoy meeting people and I like to give back where ever possible."

Teri: "It helps fill my time as I am unable to work even part time, it gives me the chance to meet new people."

Julie: "I feel I want to help the community and socialising will help boost my confidence."

Helen: "It helps to give me confidence and a chance to meet new people & make friends that otherwise I wouldn’t meet."

Kelly: "Helps meet new friends as a single parent & gaining work experience."

Jake: "Help me to obtain long term employment & I really like the atmosphere."

Howard: "It gives me a chance to meet people of all ages & backgrounds and I like to put something back into the Community."
