Coming Soon To Your Community Centre...

Brand new events and drop-in support sessions starting this September

This September will see the launch of a number of new events and a brand new drop-in support group at Gannow Community Centre.

The BPRCVS Gannow Craft Market takes place on Sunday 9th September from 10am until 2pm. A wide range of local crafters from all around East Lancashire have been invited. There’ll be a broad selection of beautiful homemade and handmade crafts from cards, knitted goods and photo frames to fine arts, jewellery, cakes, and a whole lot more. Get yourself down to the centre and pick up a unique gift like no other. We will be providing tea, coffee, toast and other refreshments to keep you fuelled while you shop.

Bring the kids with you to the craft market as we have a special crafting workshop especially for children. Throughout the day a local crafter will be running crafting with kids sessions completely free of charge keeping you free to shop around in peace.

Any crafters who would like to book a table please contact Alan Barnes on 01282 436396. Each table is 6 foot long and costs only £10 for the whole day.

The evening of Wednesday 12th September is when the first session of the brand new fibromyalgia drop-in support group gets underway. The group will be meeting in the lounge between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. BPRCVS, upon consultation with fibromyalgia sufferers, discovered that there are no support groups that run in the evening. That’s why we’ve launched this drop-in support group. It’s completely free to attend so come to relax in our comfortable lounge, enjoy a brew and connect with other people who suffer like you do. Share your stories and experiences and meet new friends who understand what you’re going through.

On Sunday 23rd September the BPRCVS Gannow Car Boot and Table Top Sale starts at 9am and runs until 1pm. Come on down to grab a bargain and start your Sunday with some super savings. You never know what jewels you might find at a car boot and table top sale. Refreshments will be available all morning.

Want a pitch? Interested in a stall? All stalls and pitches are just £5 each. To book a table or space please contact Alan Barnes on 01282 436396. Places are limited so hurry to avoid missing out.

Help give special days to young adults aged 16-40 with life threatening conditions. The Willow Foundation is a national charity established in 1999 by former Arsenal footballer and BBC sports commentator Bob Wilson and his wife as a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. On Friday 28th September we will be holding a Take Time For Tea party to raise money for this excellent charity. Calling all bakers and cake makers… BPRCVS will hold a free to enter competition for this event to make a prize winning cake. Your tasty home baked cakes will be judged by a BPRCVS panel with the winning cake collecting a prize! Keep an eye out for more information to follow about the Take Time For Tea party and bake a cake competition.

Everybody is welcome to visit the centre. It’s in an excellent location for public transport with the Mainline bus route passing at the top of the road and junction 10 of the M65 is just around the corner.

Don’t have your own transport and struggle to use public transport? Then book a Communicar to take you to Gannow Community Centre. Communicars is BPRCVS’ community transport service which provides door-to-door transport using volunteer drivers. It’s only 40p per mile making it much cheaper than any local taxi service. Give Communicars a call on 01282 412096 to register for the service.

Now that we have permanent staff in place at the centre we are very busy working on bringing new events, groups and services into Gannow Community Centre. So watch this space for news and updates about what’s going in your community centre.
