Rossendale

A B & D Centre - Friday lunch club has been cancelled until further notice.

Citizens Advice Rossendale & HyndburnWe have made the decision to suspend face to face services and we will therefore divert any spare resources to telephone and email advice. Our Adviceline number remains the same - 0300 456 2552. We are doing everything possible to continue to deliver an advice service to people living and working in Hyndburn and Rossendale, although we have reduced resources as many of our volunteers are now self-isolating and staff are moving to work solely from home. We understand that Adviceline and other helplines will be very busy at the moment, we have certainly seen an increase in the number of enquires due to the coronavirus impact. We therefore continue to promote the use of our online enquiry form so that we can either email or ring people to give them the advice they need. Please ensure to keep promoting this within your networks: www.carh.org.uk visit the Contact Us page. Citizens Advice are also working constantly to keep our advice pages about the coronavirus impact up to date and informative.

Civic Pride Rossendale - The practical steps we have so far taken include postponing all meetings and organised events. Our core activities are litter picking and gardening, for those volunteers who work alone, or who wish to, they are at liberty to carry on but have been advised to keep a safe distance between themselves and members if the public. For group gardening activities again if volunteers wish to continue the advice remains the same, to maintain a safe distance between themselves and the public.

We are very sorry, but our members are mostly over 70 and the few who are not work in essential services. We will resume when we get the all clear.

We have secure access to our Views client recordings system and all other financial systems. We are making sure that all young people in our Supported Lodgings and Teenage Family Service properties get daily contact, by messaging and video call, and that they have up to date advice and guidance in line with GOV.UK publications, particularly for those who are pregnant and therefore in a vulnerable group. Similarly our Householders supporting single young people are receiving increased levels of contact and advice around keeping themselves and their young people safe and healthy.

However, in order to look after the wellbeing of the volunteers, as well as the users, we will adopt the ‘1 in, 1 out’ policy, to minimise the risk. Also, if you know of anyone in need, whilst they’re self isolating, please message the Positive Start Facebook page, and we will try our best to help.

Our recovery college prospectus release has been postponed from the end of March until the end of May, unless we receive future advice to the contrary.

The Old Library Waterfoot - We had a meeting and decided the following with regard to our café/restaurant operation: We are suspending further development of our evening Bistro menu and opening; we continue to offer a relaxed space for daytime eating; we will continue to offer Sunday lunches, including Mother’s Day. With regard to new services we are planning a take away/delivery service very locally to cater for those impacted by self isolation.

However our members will still be able to drop in although there will be no activities going on. Whatever the outcome in these uncertain times I will be contactable on this email address (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) as I would be able to work remotely from home if the need arose. If the centre were to close the phone would be directed to the phone of a staff member.

Lancashire

Accrington Blind Society - The society has closed until further notice.

ADHD North West - ADHD North West are workng from home and not doing any surgery appointments or home visits. At the minute, if there are any TAF meetings, we are attending until we are advised otherwise.

Age UK Lancashire - We are continuing to provide most local services during this time. Our Home Helps, Hospital Aftercare and Integrated Services are continuing as normal following scrupulously the Government guidelines. Please encourage anyone who may have a Home Help to keep using this service to enable them to receive consistent support from a trusted source where systems have already been set up for shopping, etc. After consultation with our clients, staff and local commissioners we have taken the decision to temporarily close our all our Day Time Support centres which are situated in Nelson, Padiham, Burnley, Garstang and West Lancashire.  The welfare and safety of our clients and employees is always our number one priority and during the current COVID 19 pandemic the risk is too high to continue operating this service in the usual way. We are working hard behind the scenes, with the team and commissioners, to develop methods of supporting our Day Time Support members in different ways during this period of closure and will be keeping clients and their families informed in the coming days.

We hold the Hospital Aftercare Service contract, so continue to do the usual take home and settle, plus additional support for up to 6 weeks if required. Additionally, we are doing shopping, prescription collections, essential cleaning, light meals and a telephone based support service for those who require support and monitoring after they have left hospital.

We are keeping track, as far as we can, of local community groups that are offering to help. If you have local information please send through to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that our customer services team can keep a record and refer. Age UKL is also setting up a regular telephone welfare call service for our vulnerable clients and we are redeploying staff from non-vital roles to help answer telephone enquiries and to make these calls. Our income has already suffered as a result of the crisis. Inevitably we will need to close our charity shops at some stage and our revenue from paid for services will also decline rapidly. We launched a fundraising campaign (www.justgiving.com/campaign/coronaisolation) to help keep the Good Day telephone calls going over the coming months and to ensure our own sustainability as an organisation once life returns to some semblance of normality.

Carers Link Lancashire - We acknowledge that a large percentage of the people we currently support are over 70 years old, and/or are supporting someone over 70 years and/or and may fall into the high risk category and therefore it would not be appropriate to offer face to face contact from our service at this time. However, there are other ways in which we can provide support and services including through skype, telephone and email services. As of 9:00am on 18th March 2020, Carers Link Lancashire have decided to cancel or postpone all non-essential meetings, group activities and events until 24th April 2020. We will still be continuing to offer face to face support, by following internal guidelines and screening tools as and when appropriate. This will be reviewed on a daily basis and again, in line with Government advice. However they may move to other communication methods if required. Over the coming 24 hours we will be developing other methods of social interaction for our carer communities to ensure people don’t feel lonely or isolated including for example online chat platforms, virtual carers cafes and live drumming circle feeds. Please keep following us so that you can participate in these. Our community centre in Accrington, including shop, café and hub will remain open at this time.

In these instances, the teacher will be in touch to make necessary arrangements.

Lancashire County Council - Our focus is on providing the essential services which support the most vulnerable people in Lancashire. We are moving to a managed closure of some services through the crisis such as older peoples services in line with national policy and medical advice. We have taken all of our 1:1 therapy from face to face to over the phone. Our Digital Team have quickly developed an interactive MindFit – using Zoom or Google Hangouts with clients who are on waiting list at Blackpool for a course – Starting Tuesday 7th April. We will trial a variety of mediums and amend as we go. We will then start the same for all East Lancs CCG Clients using lessons learnt, week commencing 27th April day/time TBC. Once the interactive group offer is available we intend to deliver Seatfit online, along with other self care and wellbeing packages we have ready and suitable for this type of delivery.

North Lancs Training Group - We are having to close our doors to the clients we love working with. This comes with a very heavy heart, but we must put the safety of our clients, staff and visitors at the forefront of all activities. We are unsure of when we can work directly with the clients again and will be following all guidelines from the various authorities. The office will remain open and staff will be in centre to answer any queries you may have if at all possible. We will be contacting all clients who are currently on programme and will be issuing them with ‘homework’ and will be arranging to contact them regularly via phone, email, skype, Microsoft teams and/or any other method we can find! We will be postponing courses for the foreseeable, but should you wish to register an interest we can add all clients onto a spreadsheet and will keep them informed of the new dates once we have them. We will also contact all those who are planned to carry out enrolments to inform them of the changes. Should you have any queries in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact any of the team on the usual methods.

The Shop Of Hope - We are currently continuing to open at The Shop of Hope, but our volunteer capacity is extremely reduced due to most having health concerns or concerns in relation to their age which make them feel that they are safer not to volunteer at the moment until the situation changes. We have no other projects ongoing at the moment.

Understanding Autism North West - We have now closed down our premises in Accrington for a period of three months, after which time we will reassess the situation based on guidance from the government and our professional body the BACP. No face to face counselling will take place until further notice. However, many clients have been in contact with concerns about their ongoing support and their anxiety levels. We are able to continue to provide specialist counselling to our clients, but we will move to online and telephone sessions, to provide no break in therapy for those who have an established relationship with their therapist.

Veterans CUP - We offer welfare support to veterans across the North West. We have found that a lot of our older service users are self isolating and are preparing home made meals to distribute. We would like to help as many people as possible so if you have any people that may need help, please do  let me know and we will do our best to get to them - This email address is being protected from spambots.
