Making a difference to the lives of young people

The members of the Rotary of Burnley Pendleside work extremely hard to raise funds for many things. One of the projects they fund many activities for is the Children & Families Department at BPRCVS.

Their key aim is to help some of our most disadvantaged across the Boroughs, and this is done by funding activities, and also giving their time up to engage with our young people.

Some examples of the activities they have funded are:

KidzAway – This is a 2 night 3 day away stay at Whitehough Residential for 20 young people. Members of the Rotary attend some of the activities during the day such as the Pendle Hill walk, but during the evening sessions they put on a variety of entertainment such as a Caleigh (band and dance).

Christmas presents – The Rotary provided us with £750 to cover buying presents for all of our young people last Christmas.

Pantomine – they fund this each year for our young people to go to a live pantomine show at Christmas.

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) – This is a week away for 1 deserving young person and is fully funded by the Rotary. This year they have also been in contact with Boundary Mill who have supplied our young person with a suit for the award night, jeans, T-shirts, a fleece, socks and some shoes.

The Rotary held a Charter Night on Friday 6th May which they invited Alison Harris to. This was to celebrate their 40th year.
