Young Carers At Blackpool Zoo

A great day out for young carers and their families at Blackpool Zoo

On Friday 1st September 2017, 35 young carers and their families were taken to Blackpool Zoo for a family day out by BPRCVS Young Carers.

The trip was made possible by Farnell Land Rover, based on Lomeshaye Industrial Estate. Farnell Land Rover treated the families to a paid trip out along with goody bags for all of the children. Moving People of Accrington provided the coach and driver who transported the party safely there and back from the zoo in extremely busy traffic. One of the young carers’ parents said ‘Thank you for bringing us on this trip. We have had a tough week and this has really cheered us up.’

Jenny Cocker, Young Carers Manager, said of the businesses that helped ‘the continued support from both Farnell Land Rover and Moving People is hugely appreciated. We cannot thank them enough for the family day out, which all the young carers and their families loved. Andy, of Moving People, stated “we are as ever proud to work alongside the Young Carers and look forward to our next outing together.’

The trip to Blackpool Zoo was a fun day out for both the children and their parents and the families were supported as and when needed by the staff on hand throughout the day.

BPRCVS Young Carers would like to again express their thanks to the local businesses that really help make a difference to the lives of the young carers we support by getting involved with the Young Carers service and offering donations. Businesses like this really help our project to thrive and succeed in helping and supporting these fantastic young people who give up much of their childhood to look after ill, disabled or vulnerable parents and family members.
