Volunteers' Week Breakfast

A free breakfast for all BPRCVS volunteers

As a thank you for all the hard work, commitment and dedication throughout the last year (a very difficult and challenging year for many), BPRCVS offered all our volunteers from across the many different projects we're running a free breakfast down at Gannow Community Centre on Friday 4th June.

We had volunteers from our Board of Trustees, Communicars - a community transport scheme using volunteer drivers, Gannow Food Share, Gannow Community Garden, and Covid-19 Marshals turn up for a free bacon or egg butty, and a free tea or coffee.

A massive thank you to all our volunteers for their efforts during what has been a challenging year for everyone. The response we had to help out during the pandemic was nothing short of truly fantastic and inspirational. The people of Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale were singing their praises all throughout the lockdowns in the pandemic.

Many thanks must also go to the volunteer ladies who help out at Gannow Community Cafe each week. Amanda, Terri and Kelly were more than happy to help out cooking extra butties for all the volunteers on top of their usual work in the cafe serving our regular customers.

Here are a selection of photos from Friday.

We received some great comments when asked why they were volunteering:

“It gives me a sense of purpose.”

“It’s good to give back at this time when people have to step up and help others.”

“A great way of meeting people and integrating.”

“I Feel it has given me release.”

Other comments about the centre were also very positive:

"I didn’t know this was here, what a great asset to the area.”

"So much seems to be going on after a dark time we have had to endure.”
