Macmillan Coffee Morning 2020

Despite the social distancing we raised over £120 and counting!

Friday 25th September 2020 was the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan.

Usually we would invite people to come along to one of our centres and share in some coffee and cake and participate in a few games and activities. This year we had to do things a little differently because of Covid-19 and the social distancing regulations. As we couldn't invite many of you to our centres and we couldn't have more than 6 in a room we decided to link the events up digitally. We connected The CVS Centre and Gannow Community Centre together and also enabled people to join in the fun from the comfort of their own homes.

With a range of activities and competitions running throughout the morning everyone involved and had a great time. We had a coffee and cake quiz, caption competition, guess the number of coffee beans and more.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning wouldn't have been the same without the valued support of locally-based businesses and people who generously donated items for prizes. The prizes are listed below along with the winners.

  • Meal for 2 voucher from Aldo Due, Burnley
  • £20 voucher from Wilko, Burnley
  • Neck Back and Shoulder Massage from Salon 27, Barrowford
  • Hedgehog made by Marilyn Starkie, BPRCVS Reception Volunteer
  • Coffee, Tea, Cake and Biscuits Hamper made by Marilyn Starkie, BPRCVS Reception Volunteer
  • 3 Large Boxes of Biscuits from Booths, Barrowford
  • Massive Cake Hamper from Tesco, Burnley
  • Biscuits from Sainsbury's, Burnley
  • Bouquet of Flowers from Flowers Perfect, Burnley

Pat Taylor won both Macmillan's Colin The Caterpillar (guess the sprinkles) and our own Guess The Number Of Coffee Beans competitions... clearly Pat is an expert guesser! Pat won the hamper and another set of cake and biscuits.

Angela Greenwood won the coffee and cake quiz. Angela received the flowers, hedgehog and biscuits.

Darren Yates won the £20 Wilko voucher and cake for his winning entry in the caption competition. Jacqui Gardner won the massage and cake for her caption, and last, but not least, Allison Lindgren won the meal for two voucher and cake for her winning caption.
