A Successful Taste Of Syria

Thanks to everyone who came and contributed

The Burnley-based Syrian refugee families supported by BPRCVS wanted to organise an event to fundraise for an educational culture trip in the coming months.

A Taste Of Syria was created and took place on Thursday 20th June 2019 as this is World Refugee Day and in the middle of Refugee Week 2019. A Taste Of Syria was an opportunity for the people of Burnley and beyond to try a range of traditional Syrian foods for something that was a little different than their usual lunch!

The total raised was approximately £250 at the Taste Of Syria fundraiser. All of the food sold out very quickly. There was just a bit of rice left over that was donated to Burnley Community Kitchen. A huge thank you must go to the Syrian families for preparing, cooking, baking and presenting their homemade, gorgeous food made from traditional Syrian recipes.

BPRCVS would also like to extend our thanks to Burnley Borough Council, Burnley FC in the Community, Burnley Community Kitchen and Julie Cooper MP for their support at this event.

The families thoroughly enjoyed themselves and definitely want to do this again in the future.
