The Value Of Volunteers

Volunteers play an important part in the third sector and BPRCVS are no different. Without the dedication and hard work of our volunteers we wouldn’t be able to function as effectively as we do.

At BPRCVS we support a number of volunteers in a variety of roles. Our volunteers come from wide ranging backgrounds and have different levels of ability, but all are valued the same as they each bring something unique to our organisation.

Without the help of volunteers we wouldn’t have a manned reception to greet you on the way into the building. Without the help of volunteers we wouldn’t be able to provide printing and photocopying services. Without the help of volunteers we wouldn’t be able to serve the community in the way we do.

New volunteers come to work at BPRCVS throughout the year. Last October a new arrival, Kay, joined the volunteer reception team after retiring from working at an accountants for 16 years. Here’s what Kay thought about joining BPRCVS:

“Working for BPRCVS is a completely new experience and the team of volunteers who are responsible for the reception made me feel very welcome and a part of the team from the outset.” Together the volunteers staff the reception, welcome visitors, answer questions and serve the community. All of their duties are aimed at helping the other projects in the building run smoothly. “Two things have struck me since becoming a volunteer: firstly, the friendliness and helpfulness of BPRCVS staff and other volunteers; and secondly, the wide variety of needs of those who come into reception, some of which are very vulnerable and see us as their first point of contact with CVS.”

Kay became a volunteer because she wanted to put something back into the community by helping people. “I think the CVS reception team does this in spades and I am very pleased to be a part of this team.”

Why not join Kay and become a part of the BPRCVS team? Or if that doesn’t suit you then we have a vast number of voluntary opportunities that you can choose from. Contact BPRCVS on 01282 433740 to discuss volunteering opportunities in your community.
