A Fab Day Out For Young Carers

Local businesses team together to support local young carers to have a fab day out at The Lowry, Manchester.

Many thanks to Farnell Land Rover of Nelson and Moving People of Accrington for their invaluable support which enabled a number of young carers from Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale CVS Young Carers to enjoy a grand day out at The Lowry where they saw the musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, starring Jason Manford on Saturday 14th January 2017. Their generosity enabled the Young Carers to enjoy a full day out which was fun filled and gave them a little time away from their responsibilities at home. The day was paid for by Farnell Land Rover of Lomeshaye Industrial Estate, Nelson who also treated the young carers to a meal at Bella Italia in Salford Quays prior to the show.

All of the young carers really enjoyed the day and would like to say a massive thank you to both Farnell Land Rover and Moving People for making this possible. One of the young carers said ‘It was amazing and I loved it’.

Tracey Taylforth of Farnell said ‘The trip was a real success and it was obvious how much the young carers enjoyed it.  Even the walk around the Quays and looking at the Blue Peter garden grabbed everyone’s interest.  Sometimes we forget that what we might consider as relatively small things are actually seen as a real opportunity to the young carers’.

Young Carers at BPRCVS work with young carers from across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale who help to care for a close relative with a mental health and/or substance misuse issue. The project works with children and young people up to the age of 18 supporting them in their caring role.
