English Speaking Roleplay

In recent classes the ESOL students practiced their English speaking skills with some roleplay.

Using Linkbridge’s reception area as a GP surgery reception desk, the students practiced discussing various ailments and making appointments for themselves and family members. They all did very well and are now a lot more confident in using their new skills in their local community. It is from exercises like these that the students really learn and pick-up the language much easier and quicker.

Many thanks to Linkbridge for allowing us to utilise their reception area as our roleplay theatre.

Since beginning with the ESOL classes, the Syrian families supported by BPRCVS have performed really well in class and have done brilliantly to learn as much English as they have in the time they've been supported by BPRCVS.

Some of the men now take part in free football sessions on a weekly basis at Burnley Football Club. Educational and cultural trips out are arranged to aid in the learning and development of English language. Discussions about volunteering have also been held in recent weeks as a means for them to familiarise themselves with the local community and language.
