Areas of responsibility: Gannow Community Centre

I am currently the centre co-coordinator for Gannow Community Centre, Burnley since July 2018.

I am married with two stepsons (one disabled) and my best friend “Rio” my parson’s terrier. After getting married in 2005 and settling down in Barrowford, I was the Ballroom/Events Manager for Padiham Town Hall until being made redundant in 2018.

Prior to this I have had a very varied working life mainly in arts & entertainment.

I started out as a Saturday boy in a record shop in my home town of Newton–Le-Willows, progressing to be the shop manager in 1979. After this I bought the lease and ran the shop until 1981 when the lease ran out and wasn’t renewed.

I then worked as assistant events promoter and eventually took over the full role for Warrington Festival before having the chance to run my own venue in Manchester where such bands/artists as Bryan Adams, Rose Royce, The Damned, Three Degrees, Spear Of Destiny, Tight Fit, Sad Cafe and Paul Weller all appeared.

After a few years the theatre had a change of usage and I had the opportunity to work abroad as a DJ which I had been doing since the age of 15. I had great spells in Germany, Sweden, Tenerife, Lanzarote and the other Canary Islands.

Outside of work I am a massive Rugby League and football supporter following St Helens and Everton respectively. I am also a volunteer presenter on Drystone Radio, near Skipton, having previously been the Drive Time and Breakfast show host on Ribble FM. I also fundraise for Kidneys for Life at Manchester Royal and support the Willow Foundation who grant special days for terminally ill young adults and their family.

“Me” time is essential to relax and for that I have my greenhouse and garden plus of course music!
