Walter Park MBE

BPRCVS Trustee Walter Park

BPRCVS Vice Chair

I became a BPRCVS Trustee approximately 15 years ago. I became a Trustee of BPRCVS to help raise the profile of the volunteer sector. I was appointed BPRCVS Trustee as an individual member

Currently I hold the position of member of both the Strategy Group and the Finance Group and a signatory for bank transactions.

I am reasonably computer literate, experienced in chairing and participating in meetings. I regularly undertake the financial check in the absence of a Treasurer and attend staff training sessions. I am educated to degree level with the following qualifications:

PhD (Cognitive Studies) Bridgewater University, October 2003

BA (Hons) (Health Studies (Health Promotion)) University of Central Lancashire, June 1998

Diploma in Interpersonal Skills. University of Wales, 1999

Diploma in Counselling Skills. Associated Examining Board, 1995

HND Management Studies. British Institute of Management, 1963

I have a police and military background, but before my retirement I was a training officer for a national DIY chain.

I was awarded an MBE in 2005 for “services to the community in Lancashire.”

Alongside my role at BPRCVS I am a trustee of Burnley Leisure and the treasurer of a local community riding group.

I have a history of working in retail, industry, public services and the voluntary sector all adding to my experience of the work ethic, commitment and communicating with all levels of the public. I am a trustee of the local CVS alongside being a member of Burnley & Padiham Over 50s Forum. I have been involved with several LGBT groups in East Lancashire. I have served in HM Forces and the Police Service.

I am actively involved with local organisations, BPRCVS, Burnley Leisure Trust, GG Community Riding Group and animal rescue.

Away from my work with BPRCVS I am an avid reader of biographies and historical novels; I enjoy solving crossword puzzles, entertaining friends with dinner parties, horse riding, walking my dog on local moor land and participating in local health and fitness classes.
