Representing The Titanic in Lancashire Museum

In 2011 I opened the Titanic in Lancashire Museum in Colne town centre and have successfully managed the museum for over a year. This attraction has welcomed almost 5000 visitors in its first 12 months, has appeared on national TV numerous times and really put Colne on the map. Running a museum has been a fantastic challenge, requiring lots of hard work and has been a steep learning curve.

In the past I worked for Sheffield City Council and during that time I was the Unison Shop Steward, a Health and Safety Representative and a member of Sheffield City Council Major Incident Response Group.  I moved to Lancashire in 2004 and during that time have worked for two local companies.  I recently completed the BPRCVS PTTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) course and am now working on the NCFE Team Leader level 2 course through Tyro training. I am also an associate member of the Royal Institution for Naval Architects (AMRINA). I regularly lecture on the Titanic Disaster and its Lancashire links. I am skilled in all areas of administration and business management and am comfortable dealing with the media and being in the public spotlight.

In 1985 aged 17 I formed the British Titanic Society, a group which has gone on to world wide acclaim.  Since 2006 I have served on the Committee of the Nomadic Preservation Society, a group dedicated to the restoration of this historically important vessel.
