The Centre premises are situated on Yorkshire Street in Burnley and used to be some of the offices and depot that belonged to North West Water.  People used to come here to pay their water rate bills, and those among us that are mature enough to remember the building in those days would quite probably refer to it as ‘the old Water Board offices’ when giving directions to the Centre!

In the late 1990’s the building was purchased and refurbished for use as a voluntary sector resource centre with funds awarded by the National Lottery.  The major award had been secured by a partnership consortium led by Burnley, Pendle & Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service.

In June 2010, the Centre will have been up and running for 10 years and we are all busy planning celebration of this!

Day to day running of the Centre is taken care of by the Centre Manager and 2 part-time caretakers - and a team of volunteers assist on a daily rota basis with administration support, reception duties and preparation of hire rooms.

People join our volunteer team for many different reasons and whilst some stay for quite a long time, others move on quickly, so new members are always welcome!

The Centre offers room hire and various other services and resources in addition to housing a wide range of voluntary organisations as tenant groups.
